About the Book

All women have swagger—they are just waiting for the permission to use it.

A Girl’s Guide to Swagger is the permission women need and want to feel their full confidence and to increase their success at work, home, and church; on the playing field and world stage; and in their relationships. The book was born of my experience working in male-dominated professions for the past 25 years.  I tell my stories along with the stories of other real women and their experiences of swagger.  I’ve also included the results of a survey among women who swagger and the views of a panel of experts on career and relationship. In the book, I’ve summarized my extensive research and reading on women and confidence, giving you an introduction to lots of great material that might lead you to explore more.

A Girl’s Guide to Swagger is the first book to address “high confidence” in both professional settings and personal situations in a cohesive and powerful voice. From talking to many women, it has become clear to me that women are ready for the next generation of books on confidence—books, like A Girl’s Guide to Swagger, that address the topic from this holistic perspective.

A Girl’s Guide to Swagger is about real women, not superwomen. It’s about your co-worker, neighbor, and friend who always seem to have it together and get what they want out of life. The book reveals the secrets of a more satisfying life through the application of high confidence to professional and personal situations. The book addresses many areas of a women’s life and highlights the benefits and challenges of the application of swagger.

A Girl’s Guide to Swagger has six chapters each featuring an area where women want and need swagger, including work, sports, church, relationships, the classroom, and the world stage.
